Creating space to navigate change with clarity and intention.

The Way Forward Begins with a Pause.

Mission

To create meaningful experiences in nature that help individuals, teams, and communities slow down, reconnect, and move forward with greater clarity, purpose, and resilience.

Through Mindful Outdoor Experiences, retreats, leadership development, and experiential learning, True North Rising creates space for reflection, renewal, and authentic growth..

Vision

We envision a world where:

  • people see nature as a partner in healing, learning, and leadership

  • slowing down is recognized as a pathway to greater clarity and wiser decisions

  • leaders cultivate presence as intentionally as performance

  • transitions become opportunities for growth, connection, and renewal

  • communities thrive through deeper relationships—with themselves, one another, and the natural world

We believe lasting change begins when we reconnect with what matters most.

Values

Presence before productivity

We believe our best decisions emerge when we create space to slow down, listen, and reflect.

Nature as teacher

The natural world offers wisdom, perspective, and renewal that cannot be replicated indoors.

Courageous curiosity

Growth begins when we approach ourselves, others, and the world with openness rather than certainty.

Whole-person growth

Learning engages the mind, body, heart, and spirit—not just our intellect.

Authentic connection

Transformation happens through meaningful relationships with ourselves, others, and the places we inhabit.

Stewardship

We care for the people, communities, and landscapes that make these experiences possible.

Meet the Founder

True North Rising was founded by Krista Gauthier, an educator, nonprofit executive, leadership facilitator, and certified Mindful Outdoor Guide who believes that some of life's most meaningful learning happens beyond four walls.

After more than two decades leading national education initiatives, building mission-driven organizations, and guiding leaders through growth and change, Krista discovered that the clarity so many people seek often begins by slowing down—not speeding up. Today, she combines her background in leadership, learning, and organizational strategy with the restorative power of nature to create experiences that help people reconnect with themselves, one another, and what matters most.

Whether guiding a Mindful Outdoor Experience, facilitating a retreat, or working with a leadership team, Krista creates spaces where reflection leads to insight, connection, and purposeful action.
